Rio Rico Fire District’s new 13,381 sf Station No. 3 is the administrative headquarters for the district. The building is designed to be energy efficient, and healthy for its inhabitants. The project is anticipated to achieve a LEED© Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Key elements of the design result from DESA’s innovative use of cost effective materials and methods. Exterior walls constructed of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) combine durability with high insulation values and fast erection times. Integrally colored concrete masonry blocks compliment the ICF walls and define the service bays of the station as well as providing a backdrop for the entrance Plaza. Fabric shade canopies provide shelter from the sun at exterior patios and the entrance Plaza. Their soft forms compliment the overall aesthetic of the building and reinforce the community focus of the facility.
