Designed as a satellite fire station within the Corona de Tucson Fire District, Station No. 2 is integrated into the master plan of a neighborhood commercial center. The 7,445 square foot station achieved the US Green Building Council LEED© Gold Certification by integrating energy efficient systems, water conservation solutions and local building materials.

The station includes crew quarters for five on-duty fire fighters, consisting of individual sleeping rooms, private shower rooms, a day room, an operations center and an exercise room. The crew quarters makes use of a high-efficiency wall and roof system comprised of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) that combine high insulation values and ease-of-erection. Four single-stacked apparatus bays are housed in an adjoining masonry enclosure with a mono-pitch, south facing roof that integrates a 5.3 KW, 30 panel photo-voltaic array.
